Annette Hollywood (Chairwoman of the IGBK) and Thomas Weis (IGBK-Director)

Saturday, August 24, 3 to 6 pm

Mobility is a crucial aspect of artistic exercise. Collecting and processing new impressions, exchanging with foreign cultures and the continuous shift of the own standpoint and angle of view have at all times belonged to artistic work.
But when it comes to realize an exchange and exhibition project crossing national boundaries or a stay in artists houses, artists face not only a growing jungle of aid programs and scholarships. Also about topics of social law, administrative, tax law or insurance matters the information requirements are constantly growing, whether within the EU or beyond.
Be it about foreign resident tax, returned goods regulations, overseas health insurance or options for travel expense funding:
The new information portal www.touring-artists.info:http://www.touring-artists.info?nw offers a profound introduction into the areas tax, customs, social insurance, copyright, insurances, visa/ stay permits and sponsorships of international projects to artists of the section fine arts and performing arts travelling abroad.
In the frame of the seminar this website launched in April 2013 will be extensively presented with concrete and realistic examples.
On top the latest IGBK publication “aRTISTS IN TRANSIT – How to Become an Artist in Residence” will be presented at the workshop.
The authors Leonie Baumann, Paolo Bianchi, Nikhil Chopra, Anna Lipphardt, Elke aus dem Moore/Natalia Kot, Peter Müller, Yasmine Ostendorf and Tanja Ostojic analyse and debate in changing roles reasons for artistic mobility. The impacts of mobility on life and work of the artists will also be a major topic.
The publication is based on the IGBK blog aRTISTS IN TRANSIT and the homonymous IGBK congress in 2011 taking place in Berlin in cooperation with the art academy Berlin-Weißensee and the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (institute for foreign relationships).

www.touring-artists.info is a project of the International Gesellschaft der Bildenden Künste (www.igbk.de) and the Internationale Theaterinstitut – Zentrum Deutschland (www.iti-germany.de).
