Adnan Softić is a film maker and an installation artist. Born 1975 in Sarajevo, he grew up in Bosnia and Herzegovina but had to leave his homeland due to the war when he was 17. Nowadays he lives most of the time in Hamburg. To him, films are a means to show that the line between fiction and reality is thin and not always clear. “Love thy symptom as thyself” – an announcement of Slavoj Žižek – often reflects in Softić’s works that scrutinize in manifold ways themes of the reconciliation with the past and the inexpressibility of the truth.
