Opening Up a Space In between
Since the beginning of the 21st century, video installation artist Tomoko Inagaki has represented images of women which are trapped in repetitive acts due to their obsession with the euphoria of consumer society and how they are seen through men’s eyes. Through portraying women in such states of obsession, Inagaki reveals a sense of disorientation, weird distortion and the dormant potential of violence in superficial beauty and pleasure. In the recent work, she exploits the rhetoric of moving images and has effectively devised a process in which (seemingly) identical acts and images are repeated over and over again, gradually transforming into something dissimilar.[…]
As is observed in these examples, Inagaki“s work foregrounds ‘a space in-between’ by touching on the unclear boundaries of dualisms like true/false, artificial/natural, passive/positive and self/other. Therefore, her work has the critical power to concepts of everyday life which are deeply ingrained within them. The scope of her work even reaches the constitution of Japanese society, which whilst apparently homogeneous, is revealed here as being divided into numerous categories separated through subtle differences. Inagaki’s work allows the audience to share the questions it poses through her response to society as a woman. Her work presents in a form of exhibition an opportunity for the spectators to consider these themes in depth.

Tomoko Inagaki is a visual artist and teaches this breathing method in Japan.
She will teach you this Japanese breathing method and help you to develop your creativity in this class.
Please bring a yoga mat.

Workshop 2 : „Takoyaki“

Takoyaki ist ein japanisches, volkstümliches Gericht. Von vegetarisch, Tintenfisch und süß bereiten wir viele verschieden „Takoyaki“ zu und probieren gleich.
Takoyaki (japanisch たこ焼き, dt. gebackener Krake) ist ein kleines, warmes Gericht aus Kansai. In eine etwa pflaumengroße Teigkugel wird ein Stückchen Tintenfischarm eingelassen. Zum Garen benutzt man ein spezielles Brateisen mit 16 oder mehr runden Vertiefungen, ähnlich einem einseitigen Waffeleisen. Das Wenden erfordert ein wenig Geschick, um eine ansprechend runde Form zu erhalten. Die oft acht Takoyaki pro Portion werden je nach Geschmack mit einer Sauce ähnlich der Okonomiyaki-Sauce und wahlweise mit Mayonnaise garniert. Auf die Sauce kommt dann oft noch Aonori (getrockneter Seetang) und Katsuobushi (in hauchdünne Flocken geraspelter getrockneter Bonito-Fisch). aus Wikipedia

“Melting point” bedeutet Schmelzpunkt. Bei dieser Temperatur wechselt ein fester Stoff in seinen flüssigen Zustand. Der Titel bezieht sich sowohl auf den Videoabend als auch auf einen Atomunfall.
The screening’s title is ‘ Melting Point’, which is the temperature at which solid state changes to liquid. It is related to the concept of video works as well as the word reminds of the nuclear accident.
